Not gAssHat

The XB-300-SLA Electric Mountain Bike by X-Treme looked hot, and I jumped on to take it for a ride. But yeah, I fell. I'm kinda embarrassed to admit it. I'm not that good of a mountain biker, but I was determined not to let that hill get the best of me. I dusted myself off and got back on my X-Treme XB-300-SLA Electric Mountain Bicycle and took off down the hill, stubborn to the max and not willing to let the rocky terrain defeat me and make me fall on my ass once again. This is the “Don't Be A gAssHat” review of the week!

I like the X-Treme XB-300-SLA. It's a high quality built mountain bike that's called an entry level one, and it's really affordable, but I found that it was packed with features not found on similar models of X-Treme's competitors. It has a high quality 18” steel frame that takes a punch or two without skipping a beat. The steel forks and their standard suspension makes for soft landings after a jump, or when doing tricks and turns. The aluminum alloy handlebars were so responsive that I could turn really easily to avoid holes and large rocks as I rode the hills near my house.

It has a high quality and reliable 7-speed Shimano Tourney gear and shifter system, a TZX-31 rear dérailleur, and gearbox. As the rider pedals, he or she can activate the Twist and Go (TAG) system for that extra boost to make it up that hill. When using the Pedal Assist (PA) mode, the engine comes on after every 360 degree rotation of the pedals, making pedaling even easier.

The X-Treme XB-300-SLA has a healthy little 300 watt brushless electric motor on it that performs like a real champ. Since it drives the rear wheel directly, it doesn't use chains or belts that can jam up when moving through bushes. It pulled me forward rapidly and yet smoothly, powered by two 12 volt, 12 amp SLA batteries that kept me moving for about 10 miles max range on a single charge. The batteries were easy to swap out to get another 10 mile ride in before the sun set, and I let the first set charge back up and found them topped off in about 4-1/2 hours.

Braking is a treat with the front and rear caliper brakes that can stop you on a dime. The XB-300-SLA electric mountain bike also comes with high quality 26” Kenda pneumatic knobby tires grab the dirt with authority. They won't let you slip (unless you want to, that is, say while doing donuts or something).
